Nature Based Coaching
In recent years, the benefits of spending time in natural environments have been felt by many of us. They are far-reaching, from relieving stress and depression to restoring our brain’s ability to think creatively and come up with new ideas. Spending just two hours a week in nature enables a multitude of mental health benefits. Studies show we feel happier in nature, it increases our sense of self-esteem and can increase our productivity. Even better, becoming ‘nature-connected’ means we are more likely to take care of both nature and the environment.

I absolutely love spending time outdoors. I walk every day, come rain or shine and find it massively beneficial, not only for my general mental health but also when I’ve got issues on my mind. Being outside in nature really helps me to think differently, to see the bigger picture and to get some perspective, and the coaching clients I’ve worked with outdoors say the same thing.

But what are the benefits of being coached in nature instead of on Zoom or in a meeting room?
-
Walking or sitting side-by-side rather than sitting opposite each other removes the sense of being ‘looked at’. We can find it easier to share, and it reaffirms the sense that we work together in equal partnership
-
It allows freedom of movement, and for changes in pace. Not only can this help the coaching process, but it provides a double benefit of coaching and exercise
-
We can incorporate aspects of the natural environment. Breathing fresh air can be mentally stimulating and grounding. It feels free, open, calm and energising
-
The natural environment sparks the imagination. Solutions emerge when thoughts are stimulated by what we see, hear, feel and smell
-
A sense of openness and space leads to a sense of freedom of thought
-
It increases our connection with nature and the natural world

I’ll tailor my sessions to you. We might work in person in Greenwich Park, or a location closer to you. Or we can work virtually, each of us being in separate green spaces. Let me know if this is something you’re interested in and we can discuss options.
